About Friends of Prescott

Friends of Prescott, Inc. is a nonprofit organization located in the historic Prescott School, now known as the Prescott Community Center. Our mission is to create programming that allows people of all ages to learn, play, gather, and prosper through meaningful connections.

With more than 1,200 classes offered annually, Prescott provides a wide variety of educational, recreational, cultural, and wellness programs, along with rental spaces for meetings, offices, and events. We are committed to providing a welcoming, clean, safe, and well-maintained community facility.

About the Position

We are seeking a dependable, organized, and resourceful Weekend Facility Coordinator to help keep our community center operating smoothly on Saturdays and Sundays.

This hands-on position is ideal for someone who enjoys working independently, takes pride in maintaining clean and orderly spaces, and wants to contribute to a welcoming community environment.

The Coordinator will open and secure the building, prepare rooms for classes and rentals, complete routine cleaning, and help ensure the facility is ready for the week ahead. The position reports to the Executive Director.

Key Responsibilities

  • •Building Operations: Open the building by 8:00 a.m. and secure it at the end of the day’s activities, generally by 9:00 p.m. Sunday closing may be earlier, depending on programming.
  • •Room Setup: Arrange tables, chairs, and equipment for classes, meetings, events, and rentals; complete room changeovers as needed.
  • •Cleaning and Upkeep: Clean restrooms, sweep and vacuum floors, remove trash and recycling, replenish supplies, and maintain clean, orderly spaces.
  • •Facility Care: Monitor building conditions, adjust thermostats according to guidelines, conserve energy, and help keep entrances and walkways safe.
  • •Communication: Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, supply needs, and other issues to the Executive Director.

Schedule and Hours

This is a year-round weekend position with flexible work hours based on the facility’s programming and rental schedule. The position is initially expected to average approximately 1–3 hours of work per day, with actual hours varying according to operational needs. Opening and closing duties may require separate visits to the building on the same day.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • •Strong dependability, punctuality, and organizational skills.
  • •The ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and follow established procedures.
  • •Good communication skills and a courteous, professional approach to working with staff and the public.
  • •The ability to perform routine cleaning, move furniture and equipment, and lift up to 25 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • •Reliable transportation and availability for weekend morning and evening responsibilities.
  • •Basic email proficiency.
  • •Previous experience in custodial work, facility operations, event setup, or maintenance is helpful but not required. Training will be provided.

Compensation

The hourly rate is $17.50, with pay issued twice monthly through direct deposit. This is a part-time, non-exempt position, and all hours worked will be recorded and compensated in accordance with applicable wage and hour laws.
