CALL FOR ART! THEME: ORANGE

Prescott Community Center is inviting artists to submit work for our Fall Gallery, themed: ORANGE

This theme is open to your interpretation.  Orange could be a color that predominates in your work of art such as a painting of a woman in an orange dress sitting on an orange couch… or it could be a highlight such as a distant orange spot seen through a fog.

  • Gallery will be in Studio 108, at Prescott Community Center.

Entry Fee: $25 for up to 2 works per artist

  • You may submit up to 2 pieces of artwork.
  • Artwork must have orange in it somewhere.
  • All 2D media welcome.
  • All work must be original to the artist, but inspirations come from everywhere!
  • No works larger than 16″ x 20″
  • Work must be ready to hang, wired on back, no sawtooth hangers.
  • File Format: high-quality JPEG
  • Crop: Please crop your image so that only the artwork is visible
  • Orientation: Make sure your image is oriented correctly
  • File Name: please rename your image files to the following: firstname_lastname_artworktitle
  • Tips for a good image:
    • Use your cameras highest quality setting
    • Ensure the artwork is well-lit and avoid glare from glass
    • Use a tripod for stability and crop out any parts of the photo that are not the artwork

If you want to sell your work, keep in mind that Prescott takes a 20% commission due on date artwork is picked up

  • A link to our secure payment page will be at the end of the submission form, and in the submission confirmation email. Please pay the entry fee as soon as possible. Artwork will not be considered until payment has been received.
  • Entry fees are not refundable and due by entry deadline.

Artwork must be hand delivered to Prescott Office between 9am – 1:30pm on a weekday.

These are the policies regarding the hanging of art in Studio 108:

  • The Studio 108 Art Exhibit has been developed to showcase the work for Prescott Artists, their students, Prescott Tenants as well as individuals who wish to take part in Prescott’s juried art exhibits.
  • Art exhibit space is limited to Studio 108.
  • Display space will be made available on an equitable basis. Acceptance of an exhibit does not imply endorsement of the opinions and viewpoints of the exhibitor.
  • Exhibitors must use Prescott’s hanging system for artwork. No additional hooks, nails or other fasteners may be attached to the walls of the Prescott Community Center. Art must be wired on the back for hanging.
  • Exhibits for reception and display must be set up in coordination with the availability of a Prescott Staff or Art Exhibition Committee Member. The setup should be completed within 4 days of the scheduled exhibit date and taken down within 4 days of the last day of the exhibition.
  • Artists may arrange other receptions through the Prescott office based on room availability.
  • Receptions can be arranged by artists based on Prescott availability and will be the responsibility of the artist to arrange components of the events such as food, drink and decorations.
  • Exhibit space may not be used by commercial organizations for the purposes of advertisement.
  • No displays will be allowed that promote religious or political beliefs.
  • Artwork must be appropriate for people in all age groups viewing in a public space.
  • Artwork may be sold by the exhibitor. Prescott retains 20% of all artwork sales sold during exhibitions.
  • No admission fees may be charged to see the exhibits.
  • The Prescott Community Center, Friends of Prescott, or the Town of Groton will not be held liable for the loss, damage or theft of any item on display.
  • Works of art can only be received in the gallery on condition that neither Prescott, the Town of Groton, nor its officers shall be liable for any loss or damage to works of art, howsoever caused, which might occur while they are at Prescott.
  • Artist gives Prescott permission to photograph your work for promotional purposes. Artists are encouraged to share the marketing and advertising on their own social media platforms.
  • Prescott will make every effort to protect artist’s work from harm or theft and the artist assumes the risk of having their art hung in a public community center.
